An accident, a rich kid, and a Frenchman
Brand new weblog about sports. This will be updated with new stories when the author sees fit.
3. Apparently the quarter back for the Steelers is feeling a little better. In a recent story, next week he will be playing in a celebrity golf tournament...and will appear in a music video...what an idiot. When I heard that he was injured in an accident last month I was slightly concerned for his well being, because he is a good football player and it would be a shame for his career to end in that way. The concern, what little of it I could muster, drained from me as soon as I heard that he had not been wearing a helmet while driving his very expensive motorcycle. If you are that stupid (not to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle of any kind) than you deserve some kind of wake up call. I am glad he did not die, but I hope he learned an important lesson about Physics and the idiocy of not being safe while driving a bike at high speeds. To top it all, he did not have a valid driver's license with him at the time of the crash. Unbelievable. Not only is he able to play golf now, but appearently he is physically stable enough to appear in a music video for the country music group, The PovertyNeck Hillbillies...that is not a joke. That is the actual name of the band. Amazing how quickly one can recover from such accidents. Maybe in the future, if the Steelers lose their young, star quarterback to an accident of some kind, they will not make a wiser selection.
2. The Cavaliers can breath easier, knowing that their boy-wonder will not be leaving to go to a team the Heat that has actually won the championship. He has committed to another five years with his Cleveland team after his rookie contract expires at the end of next season. They may have a shot at advancing a little further in the playoffs next year, but James is going to have to have help. His new contract promises $80,000,000 for five years of play. That equates to $16,000,000 a year...which is ridiculous. For being 21, he is doing quite well in his career.
1. Zinadine Zidane...what a moron. Set to retire after yesterday's World Cup final, he becomes angry at one of the Italian players and head-butts the guy in the chest. How immature and unsportsmanlike is that. Not only did he get red carded and ejected from the game, his team, when it came time for penalty kicks after overtime, was lacking their best penatly kicker. Any chance France had of winning was shattered by his rash moment of stupidity. He hurt his team and his country by acting the way he did, so I am very glad that they did not win the game. The Italians played hard, and kept their attitudes in check for the most part. I have not heard what kind of penalty FIFA is going to inforce on Zidane, but it should be harsh. Unfortunately he was made the man of the tournament today when FIFA awarded him the Golden Ball for his performance in the World Cup. Undeserved.
